The Map — Play to Regulate
Disclaimer
This Disclaimer applies to everyone using The Map, a tool by Pocket Pedagogy. Please read it carefully.
1. General information only
The Map helps early childhood educators think through a behaviour they're seeing, using three simple pathways — Calm, Move and Organise. Everything it produces is general educational information and a prompt for your own thinking. Nothing it says is professional advice of any kind, and nothing should be treated as a diagnosis or assessment of any child.
2. It coaches your thinking — it doesn't replace it
The Map is designed to coach and assist your thinking, not to replace your professional judgement. You know the child, the family and the context; the tool does not. Always review anything it suggests against your own knowledge, your service's policies and your obligations as an educator before acting on it.
3. Accuracy
Responses are generated by AI and may not always be correct, regardless of how confident they sound. Treat every response as a starting point to consider, not a conclusion to follow.
4. No regulatory or curriculum alignment
The Map's content does not adhere to any particular set of regulations, standards or curriculum frameworks, in Australia or elsewhere. It is your responsibility to check anything you take from the tool against the frameworks and regulatory requirements that apply to your service.
5. Behaviour, development and wellbeing
The Map is not a clinical tool. If you are concerned about a child's development, safety, health or wellbeing, speak with your supervisor or educational leader, or a qualified professional such as a paediatrician or allied health practitioner. In an emergency in Australia, call 000.
6. Children's information
Never enter identifying details about a child or family into the tool. Describe behaviour in general terms only. You remain responsible for complying with your service's privacy and child-safe obligations.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pocket Pedagogy excludes all liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, content produced by The Map. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
